Giving back to the community!

Samsung Solve For Tomorrow

Through Samsung Solve For Tomorrow, Team Fusion partnered with the Gulfport Police Department to construct a saw-equipped robot to breach doors as part of a national competition.

Lemelson-MIT Inventeam

Some members of Team Fusion also make-up the Gulfport High School Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam. Recently the Bonnet Carre Spillway opened, lowering the salinity of the water too far for oyster life. The death of so many oysters economically devastated the farmers who harvested them.

In response, Team Fusion’s InvenTeam modified existing oyster cages by creating a mechanism that floats or submerges the cages using compressed air. This modification lowers labor costs for oyster farmers, allowing them to get back to business.

Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs

Team Fusion hosted a summer camp, called Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs, in which middle-school-age students interested in STEM participated in. Over the course of the camp, the attendees were taught about skills in computer-aided design (CAD), engineering, and manufacturing.

COVID-19

In 2020, Team Fusion took the time to help alleviate the stress of Covid-19 on our community. During the initial wave of the pandemic, we used our facilities to produce 150 face masks and 300 face shields for our local hospital during supply shortages. We later designed and produced special face shields for our school’s football team so that they could stay safe while still getting to play.

Spiders Golf Tournament

Since 1997 the Spiders’ Charity Golf Classic has raised over $420,000 for local families that are in need of financial assistance due to a major illness or accident. Although each tournament has an Honored Recipient, the funds are also allocated as contributions and donations in our community. The gracious support from the T-sign and Banner Sponsors help make these contributions possible. To read more about this tournament and see how many lives have been impacted read more here. Students from Team Fusion volunteer by working the entire tournament and get to see firsthand the impact helping a family in need can have. If you would like to inquire about this golf tournament, please contact Rusty Ramage.

Other

Team Fusion also tries to stay involved in other aspects of our community! This includes volunteering at events, donating to charities and other groups, and spreading team awareness!
